Before joining XJTLU, Dr. Beibei Tang studied and worked in China, UK and Australia. She obtained her PhD in Sociology from The Australian National University (ANU). From 2011 to 2015, she was working as a postdoctoral fellow at ANU. Trained as a sociologist, she has expanded my research to political science through her teaching and research focusing on social and political change in reform-era China. Since 2009, she have participated in three interdisciplinary research projects in the fields of sociology, political science and human geography. Over the past eight years, she has undertaken extensive ethnographic research across different localities in China. She has produced a steady stream of publications in high-impact journals in China studies on different disciplinary themes, including social inequality and stratification, grassroots governance and state-society relations.
