Centre for Deliberative Democracy and Global Governance
Institute for Governance and Policy Analysis (IGPA) at the University of Canberra
Georgia has joined the Centre as an intern for the Winter Term of 2020. She is in her second year of a Bachelor's of Arts in Culture and Heritage. During her internship Georgia will be researching strategies to include voices which would otherwise be unheard in processes of deliberative democracy. Specifically Georgia will be focusing on including the voices of children in the Global Citizens' Assembly on genome editing.
Georgia has experience with advocating for children and amplifying their voices. As a Preschool teacher she found ways that very young children could be seen as active citizens, and leaders in the Canberra community, as well as how they can engage in democratic processes. She was also part of creating community events that celebrate the research of her Preschool students.'
