About
Amanda Stone is a Masters of Research student in the School of Global Governance and Deliberative Democracy at the University of Canberra.
Her research is examining the response of local government councillors in Victoria to that state’s legislative requirement to use deliberative engagement with their communities. Amanda was a four-term councillor and two-term mayor in local government in Victoria. She received the MAV/Macarthur Local Government Fellowship to study deliberative democracy in local government in Australia, the UK, Germany and Portland Oregon in 2022.
Prior to her time in local government, she was a community activist, teacher, school counsellor and school administrator.
