About

Lucas Veloso is a Social Scientist and PhD candidate in Political Science at the Federal University of Minas Gerais in Brazil.

Lucas's research focuses on political theory, democratic innovations, and socio-political vulnerabilities. Employs a range of qualitative and quantitative and methodologies, including ethnography, grounded theory, discourse analysis, and statistics.

He had the opportunity to contribute to the construction of the 1st Global Citizens' Assembly on Climate Emergency and now assesses this democratic innovation with the Centre for Deliberative Democracy and Global Governance in Canberra. Also contributes to the construction of the 1st Brazilian Citizen's Assembly on Genetic Editing.

Co-supervised by Professor Nicole Curato, his dissertation will utilise mixed methods and grounded theory to explore how socio-political vulnerabilities introduced different impacts on the production of Global Assembly democratic goods.
